of the du Plessis family, until it was taken over by the Laibach family.

Muratie Wine Estate tells the story of winemaking in South Africa, a
history almost as old as the country herself.
In 1988 Ronnie Melck became
the 21st owner, and in doing so, fulfilled a lifelong dream. This very
popular wine man, possessed of a legendary palate, warm personality

and is part of the world-renowned Stellenbosch wine region. The farm
today has 105 ha of vineyards. Over the last 6 years the farm has undergone sweeping changes, with

Wine Estate is situated on the foothills of the Simonsberg Mountain
in Stellenbosch, a prime wine producing area in South Africa. The Dutch name, Remhoogte, is derived
from the early days when brakes needed to be applied to the oxwagons
as they descended the steep slopes leading down into Stellenbosch.
The 60 ha estate is owned and run by the Boustred family, and strives
to produce small quantities of red wine of finesse and quality. The first wines from the partnership were produced
in 2002 and are red blends, the speciality of Michel Rolland. Each year
he assesses the wines produced from the vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon,
Merlot, Pinotage and more recently Shiraz, and creates the three blends
produced by Remhoogte.
